Aloha, my name is Jeffrey Daien Soga, Waipahu Hongwanji's new Resident Minister. I will also be assigned to Waianae Hongwanji Mission.
I was born in Miyoshi-shi, Hiroshima Ken, Japan, and graduated from Joge High School. After graduating from Ryukoku University in Kyoto majoring in Buddhism, I came to Hawaii as an overseas minister to Honpa Hongwanji Mission in 1985.
My ministry in Hawaii has taken me to Hilo Hongwanji Betsuin (1985-1990); Puna, Pahala, and Naalehu Hongwanji Missions (1990-2001); Kahului and Lahaina Hongwanji Missions (2001-2003); and most recently, back to Hilo Hongwanji Betsuin (2015-2017) where as Rimban, I was in charge of operations of Hilo Hongwanji Betsuin towns such as Papaikou, Honomu, Honohina, and Papaaloa.
My wife, Kumiko, is also an ordained minister and we have 4 grown children, a boy, and 3 girls. They each are living a life of their own.
We are grateful to be here and look forward to seeing all of you soon.
Yoroshiku Onegai Itashimasu
Sincerely and In Gassho
Reverend Jeffrey Daien Soga
